8:00am – 4:00pm, plus 2 hours per week for meetings, planning and development. 5 days per week, term time only.

The Role

We are seeking a confident, resilient and engaging English & Maths Tutor to join our team. We would particularly welcome applicants who bring a strong mentoring approach, calm authority, practical problem-solving skills and a positive, consistent presence for young people. This role goes beyond classroom delivery. You will support learners to: • Re-engage with education • Rebuild confidence • Progress academically and personally • Transition successfully back into mainstream settings or onward pathways You will deliver: • English and Maths from upper primary through Key Stage 4 • SATs learning support • Functional Skills up to Level 2 • Support for return to GCSE curriculum pathways

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: • Deliver engaging English and Maths sessions for learners Year 5–11 • Prepare and deliver Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2) • Support SATs preparation and reintegration pathways • Support learners returning to GCSE curriculum expectations • Plan structured, purposeful lessons that build confidence and independence • Track progress and contribute to learner reviews and planning • Work collaboratively with the wider team to support positive outcomes Wednesday Focus: On Wednesdays you will support: • Targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for learners not engaging in vocational studies • Literacy and numeracy catch-up support • Post-16 curriculum development, including progression pathways and employability-focused learning • Development of new curriculum opportunities in line with learner needs

Person Specification

This role may particularly suit candidates who enjoy active, hands-on work with young people, can bring positive role modelling, and are motivated by helping learners develop confidence, resilience and aspiration. We are looking for someone who is: • Calm, consistent and resilient • Strong presence and natural rapport with young people • Able to build strong professional relationships with young people • Confident managing behaviour and maintaining boundaries • Passionate about supporting progress and reintegration • Proactive, reliable and committed to making a difference Experience in Alternative Provision, SEND, PRU or similar settings is desirable.

Qualifications

Essential: • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent) minimum • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 Desirable: • Experience delivering Functional Skills in Alternative Provision setting or similar • Working towards a teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd/L4 Certificate Education and Training)
